Conclusion
May 11, 2008As future teachers, we are all thinking of ways to make our lessons more exciting and engaging. Do you think you will incorporate gaming into your classrooms? What is your reasoning for your answer? How do you plan to incorporate gaming into your lesson and what are the benefits in doing so?

I honestly do not think that I will incorporate games in my classroom… at least not as of now. I may experiment with some games and find them helpful, but with no particular “academic” games that I think would be beneficial, I do not think that I would use them. Maybe I’ll find a great game someday.. who knows?

I think that I would incorporate games in my classroom in the form of a jeopardy style format. Besides that though I doubt I would incorporate games unless I was teaching ESL students, then I might in corporate one game that I found which dealt with teaching idioms. In that case the online game definitely had educational value.

I think that gaming is great, but I do not think that I will incorporate it in my classroom. In our AED classes, we have been taught not to teach grammar in an isolated manner, and I believe that the games that we have discussed do that. If the games change in the next few years, I might think about including gaming.

I will most likely incorporate games into my classroom, whether online or acted out in the classroom, because it truly can be edcuational, and I am a firm believer that kids today, especially American, need more stimulus than modern teaching methods in order to retain a “passable” amount of info. Frank I think Jeopardy-style games are great for teaching – especially for math and science.
I think that I will try to incorporate gaming into my classroom but only the games that are specifically geared for educational purposes. I think that it can be a very beneficial way to reach students and teach them material. I think it will be a great way for students to stay engaged.
I believe that I will use gaming in my classroom one day. I think I’d definitely introduce it as a trial and error type thing and see how my students adapt to it. In a big way, I like the idea of using games that ARENT on a computer in my classroom. Like group games as an entire class.
I think that there is tons of potential in gaming but I am pretty sure it needs to be used sparingly.
Like Garret said, I like the idea of Jeopardy style games-which I always used and enjoyed as a student preparing for tests and such in school.
I don’t think I will use gaming in my classroom. Maybe if I was going to teach younger students then I would incorporate some of the educational games we tried out. However, since I am teaching High School, games will not really have a place in my classroom.
I don’t think I will incorporate gaming into my classroom in the future. I agree with Stacia that I might do this if I were teaching younger students, but I don’t think games really have a place in my adolescent classroom. Again, I could be wrong and I MAY use some type of trivia game to review for an exam or review important material that was covered in class, but I don’t really see my self incorporating it otherwise.
